Friday's rant

If one more person tells me that the key skill of a BA is to be able to communicate at all levels blah blah blah I will have to (censored) them.

This is equivalent to saying the key role of a systems designer is to communicate when actually the key skill is probably in knowing the technicalities of doing systems design. Its a technical job!

The key skill of a Business Analyst is the ability to analyse! Check out the name of the role! D'oh! This is also a technical job: doing analysis is very technical involving a high degree of applied logic, consistent and rigorous application of technical terms and concepts and the production of technical documentation defining the requirements. Not describing them or outlining them but defining them.

This is a hard, technical job.

If you want some technical support in this role, visit smart-BA where we put the analysis in to analysis!
